Michigan fires Head Coach Sherrone Moore after investigations and arrest. A sentence that holds a great deal of weight. By now, everyone has heard the news of what Sherrone Moore gotten into with his Wednesday night. Naughty businesses. That's what Sherrone Moore has gotten into. Just so we're on the same page, Michigan's head coach Sherrone Moore was fired for having an affair with a staff member. Shortly after, he was arrested for reportedly threatening to kill his mistress and himself. Damn.
I do want to say this: I don't enjoy seeing a situation like this unfold. My initial thoughts are, what if this happened to Ohio State? What if this was how Urban Meyer or Ryan Day went out. That would suck. I definitely wouldn't have the reaction most "Michigan Men" have.
With that being said, this is about as bad as it gets. On and off the field. A family is completely destroyed. Along with it, a mediocre football program. No one wins in this situation.
I think what happened to Sherrone Moore is poetic in the perspective of the final piece to Michigan's 5 year cheating extravaganza has collapsed. The NCAA has conducted investigation after investigation on this football program. Even going as far as involving the FBI. Michigan has lost a Head Coach (Jim Harbaugh) , a Scout (Connor Stallions), a QB Coach / Co-Offensive Coordinator (Matt Weiss), Assistant Director of Personnel (Denard Robinson), and now, another Head Coach (Sherrone Moore). Sherrone Moore's fall marks the 5 coach to get fired in 2 years, and the end of Michigan.

Per Ohio's Tate from Barstool Sports
When you zoom out and look at where this all started, you can point the fingers to 2021 when Michigan won its first game against Ohio State in 10 years. This was the first whiff of Michigan's success in decades. Michigan would go on to go 40 - 3 over 3 years and win a National Championship. This is about as good as it gets.
After their 15 - 0 National Championship run, the NCAA found Michigan guilty of illegal scouting, recruiting violations, failure to monitor and cooperate, and tampering. I don't want to point the fingers, but I do wonder how Harbaugh went from 49 - 22 (69% (haha)) in 2015 - 2020 to 40 - 3 (93%) in 2021 - 2023. That's 1 - 5 in bowl games to winning the National Championship... C'mon.
To point out the obvious, Michigan was having a hard time under Jim Harbaugh. As a last-ditch effort, Harbaugh did the only thing he could to succeed with Michigan: cheat. Boy did he cheat. Boy did he get caught. Sherrone Moore, Jim Harbaugh's protégé, carried on the tradition and got creative this year.
According to Ryan Day, Ohio State lost communication to their coordinators during their 27 - 9 victory over Michigan.
This could open up a whole different conversation, but i'll summarize it to this: once a cheater, always a cheater.
Hindsight is 20/20 in 2025 as Michigan's last piece of the 5-year cheat puzzle falls. If you're Michigan, you need to scrub your program of any remnants of Jim Harbaugh. Clearly he imposed some awful morals on this program after failing to succeed for 5 years. As proven in this recent Sherrone Moore fallout, bad things will continue to happen if they don't start from scratch and build a program the right way.
Oh, and one last thought: Kerry Coombs is the real loser in all of this...
