Gus Johnson is a Massive Chode

Someone had to say it. Gus Johnson is a massive chode. If you watched Indiana vs Ohio State on Fox Network ™️, you heard Gus Johnson announce the play-by-play. I couldn’t help but notice him shout from the top of his lungs, “CHARLIE B… FROM NASHVILLE TENNESSEE” every time Charlie Becker caught a pass (six times).
Now, watch an example of what Gus comes up with when two Ohio State receivers make good plays:
I didn't hear where Jeremiah Smith or Carnell Tate is from once, and I'm pissed.
I get it. This is what Gus Johnson does. He’s entertaining because he’s different and likes to yell loud catchy things and that’s a cool thing to do. I’ll go as far as to say this highly frequented line of his from Saturday was catchy. However, it does lose its value the sixth time it’s said and becomes corny as hell.
I haven’t heard anything half as loud or quirky when Ohio State has had the ball all season, and that includes big plays worthy of a Gus Johnson quirky call. Other schools, however, have profound effects on Gus Johnson’s vocal cords.
I mean… c’mon Gus. Don’t get me wrong, great play. But was that genuinely worthy of dismantling your vocal cords like that? We’ve seen absurd plays made from guys in Ohio State jerseys all year that, in theory, should’ve crippled your vocal cords.
I think I speak for many football-loving Americans when I say Gus Johnson had a cool thing going that has now crossed the line from “haha, nice” to “alright, that’s enough'.
In all seriousness, that Curt Cignetti lead Indiana football team is no joke. That was the toughest matchup Ohio State has had over the last two seasons. Indiana deserves to be in the championship conversation now, and for as long as Coach Curt Cignetti is in Bloomington.
The fact that Indiana historically has the second most loses of all-time and was last in the Big Ten two seasons ago with a 3-9 record absolutely blows my mind. Since then, Indiana has lost two games in two years. Both teams played in the National Championship in 2024. I think you get the point.
There’s no doubt in my mind Indiana will be a contender as long as Coach Cignetti is a Hoosier. How long that is until they return to irrelevance is up to Coach Cignetti. Until then, enjoy the Gus Johnson silly speech spasms ™️.
